CSS Filters Studio & Generator
Enhance images right in the browser without graphic software: adjust blur, contrast, brightness, saturation, invert, and preview popular presets with an interactive Before/After split screen.
.filtered-image {
filter: contrast(125%) saturate(140%) hue-rotate(15deg) drop-shadow(0 10px 20px rgba(0,0,0,0.3));
transition: filter 0.3s ease;
}
How to use it
- Select a preset look (Cyberpunk, B&W Noir, Vintage 1977, Golden Hour, X-Ray) or customize individual sliders.
- Drag the split slider on the preview image to compare the original and filtered versions side-by-side.
- Switch sample images between landscape, portrait, and neon cyberpunk city.
- Copy the production-ready
filter:CSS declaration with one click.
How it works
How does CSS filter work?
The filter CSS property applies post-processing graphical effects directly on the GPU during rasterization. Multiple filter functions can be chained in a single declaration separated by spaces: filter: contrast(130%) brightness(105%) hue-rotate(15deg);.
drop-shadow() vs box-shadow
Traditional box-shadow casts a shadow from the rectangular bounding box. In contrast, filter: drop-shadow() traces transparent alpha pixels in PNG and SVG images, conforming precisely to the custom shape or icon silhouette.
/* Natural drop shadow hugging transparent PNG/SVG contours */
.badge {
filter: drop-shadow(0 8px 16px rgba(0,0,0,0.3));
}
Transitions & Performance
All standard CSS filters interpolate smoothly with transition and @keyframes at 60 FPS, making them ideal for dynamic hover states (e.g. fading an element smoothly from monochrome to full vibrant color).
